The Los Angeles Rams are preparing to unleash their new secret weapon on the rest of the NFL. Sean McVay is a young, up-and-coming coach who has taken over for an aging Jeff Fisher and led the Rams to a Super Bowl win in just his second season as head coach.
The la rams logo is a new secret weapon that the Los Angeles Rams are preparing to unleash on the rest of the NFL. Sean McVay and the Rams have been building a team in LA, and this year they hope to take home their first Super Bowl victory since 1999.
Sean McVay is renowned around the NFL for his exceptional play-calling abilities. It was a key component in the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl 54 victory.
While the Rams are different now than they were in 2018 and 2019, McVay is still the guy in control, and he wants to be even more creative with his play-calling in the future. With the acquisition of Trey Lance to San Francisco, the NFC West is becoming more competitive, making the Rams’ aim of winning the division that much more difficult.
The good news for LA is that McVay and the Rams have a bright young rookie who will serve as a kind of “hidden weapon.”
Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams are experimenting with rookie wide receiver Tutu Atwell.
Because the Rams did not have a first-round choice in the 2021 NFL Draft, they chose the 57th overall pick on draft night. With obvious gaps throughout the offensive line, many expected the club to use their second-round pick to shore up the trenches.
Tutu Atwell, a wide receiver, was unexpectedly selected by the Rams. This is a decision that must have been inspired by McVay’s preference for quick offensive players.
Why was Atwell’s selection so surprising? To begin with, he stands 5-foot-9 and weighs 155 pounds. The Eagles were chastised by draft experts for choosing the small DeVonta Smith in the first round – taking a 155-pound WR in the second round was seen as borderline malpractice, particularly given the Rams’ offensive line’s poor performance.
After all of this, it’s obvious that McVay has a strategy.
Against the Raiders, Atwell played 92 percent of the snaps.
For the vast majority of Rams supporters, Atwell’s pick was met with apprehension. The former Louisville product is an absolute burner with great mobility, but given how tough the game has grown, finding success in the NFL at 155 pounds is nearly impossible.
To be a useful player, Atwell will need to establish himself as a genuine outlier.
So far, McVay seems determined to ensuring that this occurs.
Atwell was established as a focal point for the LA offense during the Rams’ preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders. He was targeted 13 times and participated on 70 offensive plays (92 percent). Atwell had a total of 46 yards on eight catches.
By any measure of the imagination, it wasn’t a breakthrough performance. The large number of shots and targets, on the other hand, creates a picture of someone who will be used in 2021.

The Rams’ crowded WR depth chart will be the only thing holding Atwell back during his first season. With Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson, and DeSean Jackson on the roster, Rams analyst Aqib Talib believes the rookie wideout has an uphill fight (Pro Football Talk).
Having said that, Jackson has been a walking injury for the last two seasons, and McVay is a genius on offense. Whether it’s via special teams, end-arounds, screens, or other means, the Rams’ new rookie weapon should be able to contribute.
The club just sold their soul to win a Super Bowl by acquiring quarterback Matthew Stafford. Why should you keep your intriguing rookie off the field?
